Henry Boot makes senior management changes

Sheffield-based property investment and construction group Henry Boot plc announced that Simon Carr of Henry Boot Construction (HBC) and Giles Boot of Banner Plant (BP) will be retiring from their roles as managing director on June 30, 2021, following long careers with the group.

Tony Shaw, current director of Henry Boot Construction, will be promoted to managing director and Jonathan Fisher will join the group as the new managing director of Banner Plant, with both becoming members of the executive committee.

In their current roles, Simon delivered over a billion pounds of construction activity and increased statutory profit tenfold, with Giles repositioning BP client base and order book from an internal hire supplier to a business generating 94% of its turnover from the open market,” said Henry Boot.

“Henry Boot thank them for both their hard work and significant contribution to the Group and wish them well in their well-deserved retirement …

Tony joined HBC as an apprentice in 1985, before working his way up to his current position as Director.

“As part of the succession planning, Tony has had increasing day to day responsibility for the senior leadership team at HBC and has led the recent refresh of HBC’s strategy.

“Tony will continue to lead on the evolution and development of a more focused, progressive strategy for HBC.

Jonathan joins the group as the new MD of BP from Elliot, part of the Modulaire Group Company.

“Jonathan has extensive industry experience from his previous position as the UK Sales Director and will be tasked to continue leading on progressing the digitalisation of BP sales systems and growing its strong position within plant hire.”

Henry Boot CEO Tim Roberts said: “In my relatively short time at Henry Boot, it has been a real pleasure working with Simon and Giles.

“Their contribution, over a long period of time, has been very significant. Aptly, we have a good mix of home grown, and fresh talent for these two important positions. I look forward to working with Tony and Jonathan as they take up their new roles.”

Carr said: “It has been an honour to lead Henry Boot Construction as Managing Director, a culmination of a career spanning 33 years with the Company, where I have overseen both considerable growth and industry leading profit margins.”

Giles Boot said: “I’m proud of the evolution and growth I’ve overseen at Banner Plant, as we’ve transitioned from an internal supply company to a commercially successful Plant Hire business.”
