Skipton Building Society in board change

Skipton Building Society has announced the appointment of Graham Lindsay as its new senior independent director, following Mark Lund’s retirement.

Lindsay will sit on the Skipton Building Society Board, Board Nominations Committee, Board Change Committee, Board Remuneration Committee, and Board Audit Committee.

Joining Skipton’s Board, Graham brings more than 45 years of wide-ranging executive-level experience in retail, wealth & commercial banking, until 2015 all within Lloyds Banking Group,” said Skipton.

“With hands-on experience from frontline to boardroom, Graham has led significant branch networks for Lloyds Banking Group, acted as HR Director & Group Marketing Director and sat on the retail board heading-up the Customer Experience and Communications functions for the retail bank.

“In 2012 Graham was appointed Group Director, Responsible Business, building the responsible business agenda.

“Graham is well networked across the UK financial services industry and for 6 years sat on the board of the Institute of Financial Services (previously Institute of Bankers).

“Graham was a board member of the Professional Standards Board. He now has a portfolio of non-executive & charity roles and has just stepped down as Vice-Chair and board member of The Brain Tumour charity where he remains as an emeritus.”

Lindsay said: “I was particularly attracted by Skipton’s clarity of purpose in helping people achieve their major financial life milestones.

“From climbing the property ladder, getting savings to work harder, to retiring with confidence. I can see it in the actions already taken and the ambitions & stretching future plans; it is clear that these are not empty words. I am excited to be joining such a high performing business & Board and I am encouraged by the ongoing plans to deliver value back to members.”

Skipton Group chair Gwyn Burrs said: “Graham’s appointment to the board reinforces our commitment to enhancing our leadership with proven expertise and deep insight into the financial services industry.

“His extensive experience and strong network, built over many years in UK financial services, combined with a passion for customer focus and employee engagement, will be a tremendous asset to Skipton.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Graham and look forward to the contribution he will make to our continued success.”
