Carlisle-based agriculture and engineering firm Carr’s Group, which works in sustainable livestock supplements, has published an update on its strategic distribution partnership with Seales Winslow in New Zealand.
In 2024, Carr’s closed its “sub scale” New Zealand business and appointed Seales Winslow as its exclusive third-party distributor, as a means of improving profit generation and driving growth in the region.
Seales Winslow is one of New Zealand’s leading compound ruminant feed manufacturers.
“Together, the two companies are providing premium feed solutions to farming customers and driving innovation in feed supplementation for extensive ruminant systems,” said Carr’s.
“Products are distributed through New Zealand’s three main rural retailers: PGG, Farmlands, and Farm Source.
“Since being appointed as Carr’s Group’s third party distributor for New Zealand in November 2024, the partnership has proved successful, with operational transition and customer migration benefits ahead of schedule.
“Pre-Calver, a low calcium and high magnesium product which reduces milk fever risk and slow calving incidents while improving cow muscle tone, has been a standout performer in the region, in terms of volumes sold.
“The broader product portfolio includes Forage Plus, Extra High Energy, Easy Breather, and the Horslyx equine range, all of which have additional potential in the market.
“New Zealand remains a meaningful extensive livestock market with over 20 million sheep and 9 million cattle, including approximately 6 million dairy cows.
“Additionally, the country’s robust dairy, beef and sheep sectors continue to drive strong demand for high-quality mineral supplementation solutions. Carr’s Group and Seales Winslow expect further benefits to be achieved as the distribution agreement moves into its second year.”
Carr’s Group CEO Joshua Hoopes said: “I am delighted that the first year of our strategic distribution partnership with Seales Winslow has been a success.
“Through this partnership, we’re pleased to continue to support New Zealand’s farmers and livestock industry through our research-driven supplements that boost profitability, improve resource efficiency and reduce environmental impact.”
