Newcastle Building Society announced that Andrew Conroy has been appointed as chief financial officer, subject to regulatory approval, and is expected to take up the position during the first quarter of 2026.
“Interim arrangements will continue for the immediate future and the Society remains very appreciative for the ongoing contribution and support of Paul Astruc in that role,” said Newcastle Building Society.
Newcastle Building Society CEO Andrew Haigh said: “We very much look forward to welcoming Andrew to the team in the New Year. Andrew will bring his extensive experience from across the sector including prior leadership and senior roles at Leeds, Coventry and West Bromwich Building Societies.”
In August, Newcastle Building Society said its savings balances grew 4% to £5.7 billion in the first half of 2025.
Newcastle is the largest building society based in the North East of England and the seventh largest building society in the UK, with assets of roughly £6.6 billion.
