Vimto firm Nichols hires THG’s Rothwell as CFO

Merseyside-based Vimto and soft drinks firm Nichols plc announced the appointment of THG plc executive Matthew Rothwell as Nichols’ Chief Financial Officer and Company Secretary, joining the group no later than April 13, 2026.

David Taylor, Interim Finance Director, will step down at the end of November.

To ensure continuity during the transition period, Rebecca Hughes, the group’s Financial Controller, will support the Nichols board senior leadership team as a non-board Finance Director until Rothwell’s arrival.

Nichols’ portfolio includes Vimto brand plus a growing portfolio of licensed brands including Levi Roots, ICEE, SLUSH PUPPiE and Sunkist. Vimto is prominent in areas such as the Middle East and Africa.

“Having held senior financial leadership roles across a number of UK-listed consumer-facing businesses, Matthew brings extensive and highly relevant experience to Nichols,” said the Merseyside firm.

“After starting his career at Deloitte, Matthew held various senior finance roles at Asda and Sainsbury’s plc. Matthew is currently Deputy CFO at THG plc, a role he has held for more than eight years.

“Matthew is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, having qualified in 2002.

“The Board is confident that his expertise and strategic insight will be instrumental in supporting the Group’s continued development and growth.”
