Rotherham-based property and land regeneration firm Harworth Group has appointed Peter Henry to the newly created role of Director of Sustainability.
Henry will report to CEO Lynda Shillaw and will be a member of Harworth’s investment committee.
CEO Lynda Shillaw said: “Harworth prides itself on being a responsible business, embedding ESG into the way we work and the developments we deliver.
“Peter is ideally positioned to drive forward our work in this critical area, bringing with him a passion for creating sustainable places, a deep knowledge of our business and stakeholders, and a long track record of delivering large scale regeneration.”
Harworth said: “Peter joined Harworth in 2012 and held a number of key roles in the delivery of commercial, residential and energy developments, before being appointed Regional Director for the Yorkshire & Central region in 2019.
“In this role, he was responsible for some of Harworth’s largest regeneration projects, taking them from acquisition to delivery and overseeing planning and development.
“These projects include Waverley and the Advanced Manufacturing Park in Rotherham, Gateway 36 in Barnsley, and Thoresby Vale in Nottinghamshire.
“Peter has also been integral to forming many of Harworth’s key driving principles for sustainable regeneration and placemaking.
“In his new role, Peter will lead the development and implementation of Harworth’s Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) programme, the Harworth Way.
“Peter will work closely with the Board ESG Committee and build on the significant progress made by Harworth in this area in recent years.
“His initial focus will be to evolve and embed sustainable development principles into Harworth’s large-scale regeneration projects in line with Company’s eight Focus Impact Areas, which were announced in March 2022.
“As part of this, he will be leading on the formation of the Company’s Net Zero Carbon pathway.
“Earlier this year, Harworth appointed Ed Catchpole and Chris Davidson as Joint Regional Directors for Yorkshire & Central, succeeding Peter.
“Ed and Chris joined Harworth in 2017 and 2013 respectively, and will continue to work with the team to deliver the company’s growth strategy across the region.”
