Salford-based broadband giant TalkTalk Group announced it has completed the purchase of SSE Phone & Broadband from OVO Energy.
“The acquisition brings across all the approximately 135,000 SSE Phone & Broadband customers and supporting team from OVO Energy to the TalkTalk Group,” said TalkTalk.
“The transaction reinforces TalkTalk’s commitment to grow its customer base and demonstrates its expertise in the home energy broadband market, where it is a leading provider of wholesale connectivity.
“In 2021, TalkTalk welcomed the customers of Origin broadband to the group. Further acquisitions will follow if the opportunity arises.
“In 2020, SSE Phone & Broadband, was acquired by OVO Energy as part of its purchase of SSE Energy Services from SSE plc and it has continued to trade under the SSE brand ever since.
“SSE has given permission for its brand to be used under licence until April 2023 to support a smooth transition to TalkTalk Group.”
