Manchester-based online fashion and home goods retailer N Brown Group announced that Dominic Appleton, formerly of The Very Group, will join the group as chief financial officer designate on March 1, 2023.  

Appleton will succeed Rachel Izzard as CFO and a board director when Izzard steps down.

N Brown’s retail brands include JD Williams, Simply Be and Jacamo, and the group employs 1,800 people across the UK.

“Rachel will work with Steve Johnson, group chief executive officer, and the board, to ensure an orderly handover to Dominic,” said N Brown.

“It is currently envisaged that Rachel will leave the business, and that Dominic will join the board, following the completion of the FY23 Annual Report and Accounts at the end of May.

“Dominic is an experienced finance professional, having spent a total of 10 years at The Very Group (previously Shop Direct), most recently as Group Finance Director.

“He has previously held Chief Financial Officer roles at online bathroom retailer, VictoriaPlum.com, and leading footwear brand, Hotter Shoes.

“Prior to this he worked in senior finance roles at SSL International and Procter & Gamble, having begun his career at KPMG where he qualified as a chartered accountant.”
