Deloitte’s North West of England practice has officially opened the doors of its pioneering state-of-the-art home at 100 Embankment in Salford, Manchester.
Occupying 65,600 sq. ft and split across three upper floors of the nine-storey building, plus the ground floor, Deloitte said the move “underlines the firm’s ambitious vision for growth in the region, consistent with a hybrid working model which prioritises sustainability, flexibility and collaboration.”
The office forms part of the regeneration of central Salford, located above Greengate Square and adjacent to Manchester’s Medieval Quarter.
Alongside 100 Embankment, the area has seen a rapid increase in development activity in recent years.
Deloitte’s new office boasts numerous innovative features to accommodate the firm’s hybrid work model.
These include a dedicated client suite, flexible co-working spaces and a “gallery room” – a dynamic and versatile space designed for showcasing, facilitating workshops and hosting seminars.
Team connectivity within the office is boosted with internal staircases and dedicated social spaces. Deloitte said a bespoke wellness room, nursing room and muti-faith room further highlight the firm’s commitment to health and wellbeing.
“Sustainability is a key focus in the move,” said Deloitte.
“100 Embankment was selected, in part, based on its sustainability credentials, including having no fossil fuel use on site.
“The office is also fitted with low carbon products such as carpet made from industrial waste and recycled plastics, and joinery made from local offcut timber and wood dust.
“This aligns with Deloitte’s firmwide mission to decarbonise its buildings and operation and prioritise sustainable growth on its path to net zero.
“Given the office’s central location, cycle racks and changing facilities are also offered to provide people with commuting flexibility. EV charging points are available in an underground car park with over 95% of Deloitte’s fleet cars now electric.”
Jo Ahmed, North West Practice Senior Partner at Deloitte, said: “Our bold move reinforces Deloitte’s continued commitment to sustainable growth and development in the North West. We have over 1,400 extremely talented people based in the North West and I am proud to welcome each and every one of them, plus our clients and guests to 100 Embankment.
“We listened to our people and designed the new office around how they want to work focussing on collaboration, connection and innovation. The space incorporates new technology that enables seamless connection between our people and clients wherever they are.”
Gavin Harrison, head of sustainability at Deloitte UK, said: “This is a significant step for Deloitte that underlines our ambitious net zero strategy. Our future of work model is based on collaboration and flexibility, balancing hybrid working with meaningful in-person interaction that enables our people to work together in an efficient way.
“We know that providing offices that align with the environmental values of our people, partners and clients is vital. That’s why it’s so important to us that Deloitte is synonymous with delivering market-leading, sustainable workspaces, which place community at the heart of its design.”
Deloitte said 100 Embankment marks the latest step in the evolution of its offices. It follows the opening of firm’s New Street Square London headquarters in 2018, which was the largest BREEAM Outstanding and WELL Gold dual-certified fit-out in the world at the time.
This set the blueprint for all future Deloitte offices, including the most recent space to open at 9 Haymarket Square in Edinburgh. Deloitte’s new Bristol office, which will be in one of the most sustainable office buildings outside of London, is set to open later this summer.
