US multinational Calibre Scientific has acquired Yorkshire specialty chemical firm Vickers Laboratories Ltd for an undisclosed sum. 

Vickers, based in Pudsey, has been in business more than 50 years, making high-quality specialty chemicals for pharmaceuticals, contact lenses, medical devices, food and beverage, anatomical sciences, and education purposes.

Calibre Scientific, based in Holland, Ohio, is a diversified global provider of life science reagents, tools, instruments, and other consumables to the lab research, diagnostics, and biopharmaceutical communities.

Vickers said the deal would allow it to use Calibre Scientific’s extensive global network and resources, expand its product offerings and reach new markets.
