The future of struggling department store chain Debenhams is in doubt after Bury-based retail giant JD Sports Fashion Plc said on Tuesday it will not pursue a rescue takeover.

“JD Sports Fashion Plc … confirms that discussions with the administrators of Debenhams regarding a potential acquisition of the UK business have now been terminated,” said JD Sports.
